Lima Boutique Hotel Review: Autor 2

December 14, 2023 by Anabel

Staying at Autor 2 is like coming home. Well, maybe a little bit better.

Autor 2 occupies a 20th century mansion with 3 floors and 5 guest rooms. Mornings begin with fresh brewed coffee, a big bowl of fruit, and a side of toast with eggs made to order. Go out the door, walk for 2 minutes, and you are at the Malecon, a park-filled promenade that runs atop the green cliffs of Miraflores. Admire the Pacific Ocean views and let the sound of the breaking waves fill your ears. Back at the house, chat with the friendly staff and get advice and recommendations for how to spend the rest of your day exploring the City of Kings.

Autor 2 is the sister lodging to Hotel de Autor. Describing it as an “insider’s mansion,” Conde Nast Traveller recently chose this small hotel as one of the coolest things to do in Lima.

Lima Tours:

Indeed, spending time at Autor 2 feels like a discovery.

Crisp white walls are offset by carefully chosen pieces of Peruvian artwork, photographs, and decorations that inspire your curiosity and wanderlust. Guest rooms and common spaces are dotted with books on art and design.

Rooms have parquet floors and are equipped with flat screen TVs, desk, wardrobe, Venetian blinds, and private bathrooms with bath amenities and showers. For extra space and a big bathtub, book the Suite which includes a king size bed, a sofa, and a view to the patio garden. No matter, which room you choose, the garden is an inviting place to relax at any time of day.

Autor 2 is located on the northern edge of Miraflores. Seafood lovers have two excellent restaurants within 10-15 minutes walking distance: La Mar Cebicheria and El Mercado. For more recommendations on where to eat and what to do for fun in Lima, be sure to talk with the owner Humberto and his staff. Their knowledge of Lima and Peru is almost limitless and they are happy to help you zero in on activities that match your interests.

With its contemporary-explorer vibe and emphasis on personal attention, this is the kind of place that might make Lima your new favorite city. We are happy to recommend Autor 2 to travelers in search of a hotel that is relaxed and cool and feels more like a home than a hotel.
